Tony I've had my dash out a few times... 95 3500...
it will roll down... has about 5 screws across the
windshield line(long phillips screwdriver)... will
pivot on 2 mount bolts down in the lower front(1 on
each side)

I havent pulled the heater core but MOST have 3 or 4
studs sticking through the firewall with nuts and a
seal(glued) around the air box

I guess the question is how do you get the heater box out? you can't even get to it?

Had the dash out of my '98 once. As said above screws across top. (Be careful if using a ratchet, not to rap the windshield) Two big bolts at top of kick panels each side. Disconnect electrical center @ bottom left of dash, drop steering column. There is a heater control cable that needs to be disconnected before laying the dash back. I laid the dash on a blanket, on the seat. Then drain and disconnect heater hoses. Depressurize A/c and disconnect lines. Then heat/AC box comes out. You might want to evaluate the evaporator when you have it apart. Would not be fun to do it again in a couple months. Patience, it will take up your entire day if you're slow and meticulous like me.

Wait a minute, you're in Fla. what do you need heat for.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

I haven't looked but you might try to Google removal of heater core for your vehicle There's also some Dodge truck sites.

because it's cold as a well diggers azz right now. had 2 solid weeks of freezing just a few days ago.

I just talked with a friend of mine and he's going to help. my dash just shattered when I tried to move it. it looks like it is attached to the air vents? I guess they are supposed to roll back with the dash but that didn't happen because it fell apart. I would rather pull 2 motors than to mess with this crap

Those detailed instructions , should tell how to disconnect that heater cable...you have to reach in w/your arm and sort of do it blind... you can do it w/the left arm and look through the windshield.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

And by the way, those instructions will tell you to replace the accumulator....not a bad idea.

Yeah, it's got a smallblock.

If the accumulator has been replaced, just plug it FAST after disconnecting.

I usually zip the seat bolts out and move the whole seat assy back. Takes less than a minute and give you good room to move. The dash cracking isn't so much a sun thing. They have been turning into the consistancy of a fortune cookie all over the US. Being your dash is coming apart you might as well remove the whole assy and get yourself a new one if the truck is worth saving. My 01 started cracking last year so I'll be replacing it soon. Too nice of truck not too.

...and once you get the dash assy out of the way you need to remove the black hvac unit out so you can disassemble it to get to the evaporator and heater core.

I found a new oem dash on ebay for $196. the old truck still runs good but everything is falling apart around it. the whole thing needs replacing but I have to make it work somehow. just can't afford a new one.
