I don't know if this is in the right place, forgive me if it isn't.. but is there anybody in my area or within reasonable driving distance that really knows their stuff? My 904 was rebuilt, but it never shifted right, and I have developed a vibration that I think is coming from the front pump area. The only local guy that isn't a chain is an old-school southern, shade tree kind of gentleman that, well, you know...

Is there anybody that is Mopar-savy with performance knowledge and can do a good job identifying and fixing what is wrong, quickly and within reason? I also want a new torque converter and flex plate that is correct for a 360 instead of the 318 and B&M I have now.

The trans is out...

the vibration was not there from day 1 but just developed? Later on if you put that 904/tc behind a 360 you can get the B&M flex plate iirc it's 10239 but double check and it MAY be discontinued but there was one 4 sale in the trans section awhile back for iirc $40. I reread your post & you said 318/b&m, do you have the above flex plate right now? I've used it & it balanced very good so I'd think the prob is elsewhere. Good luck w it

I went from a 318 to a mild 360... I kept the 318 TQ and used the B&M flex plate. It always shifted funny, especially going from second into drive, and sometimes when it was cold it wouldn't go into gear, just kind of freewheel in neutral until I revved it up a bit and then it would thunk into gear. Also drag racing it and shifting with the pedal matted had a few shifts that weren't crisp any more, and it developed a vibration that occurs even in neutral, but the harmonic balancer is okay. Plus I think I rung the tail shaft bushing out when I lost a few U-joints before the rearend swap.

The rebuild was done a few years ago in CA by a Chevy guy... it wasn't really ever right in my opinion. I need somebody that knows what they are doing to go through it, and I don't want to take it to another hack... I'm pretty rough on stuff.

If that's the case, consider going to a 727 at this point, so rebuilding doesn't become a periodic occurance.
