I could use some help on figuring out if my AAR has the proper master cylinder. The photo shows the cylinder minus the cover, which is the part I don't seem to be able to get. I have been trying to straighten this out for several months and I am more screwed up now than ever.

I talked with a Mopar vendor who told me that this master cylinder is not the correct one for the car. They said that the configuration is wrong, specifically that the rounded end of the housing should be farthest away from the power booster. While at Carlisle, I looked at and took photos of many AAR's and T/A's and I'm pretty sure they all had the master cylinder oriented as on my car. The approximate dimensions are 6 inches by 3 1/8 inches edge to edge.

Anybody know what is what on this? Also, if mine is correct, any ideas where I can get a stock cap and gasket? Thanks!!

Hal

Hi Patrik, thanks for the reply. I could really use any information if you would be kind enough to forward it to me. I will reply through PM.

I have been digging up pictures I have of AAR and T/A cars and have found all different types of master cylinders. Some like mine and some like yours. If you have the actual part number cylinder, I would guess that it is correct. I will drop Barry Washington a note and see if he will chime in on this.

The 2229171 master cylinder that Wolfman posted is the only correct master for all disc brake equipped 1970 E-bodies aside from the hemi-specific master. It is most certainly not an easy part to find and most "restored" cars are missing it... Once you know what to look for, the wrong masters tend to look like a wart in an other wise nicley restored engine compartment

Man ain't that the truth. Now that I know mine is wrong, I can't stand to look at it. Thanks to Patrik and Barry for the information they sent. I really appreciate the help.

Was it $200.? If so, I looked at it for a couple of minutes and went to the ATM to get cash, came back and it was gone I think that was on Saturday.
