If your budget is 2 grand go with the Dana. We race nothing but 9.5's but one Dewco 3rd member cost nearly 5 grand.

I'll bet you that many junk yards will sell you any nine inch ford rear end they have for under a $1000.00 if you want a "race" nine inch witl all the good parts including good brakes it will probally cost a little more than $2000.00, $2500.00+ probally Quicktree where are you

the best thing about a 9 inch is there is loads of aftermarket parts to make it bullet proof. the only Ford part on my 9 inch is the center housing. i have new tubes, Strange nodular carrier & spool, Romac floaters & custom 35 spline axles. it takes the abuse i thow at it.

Unless you need to change gear ratios on a regular basis, a Dana 60 is the best bang-for-the-buck rear you can get for a torquey, street/strip or moderate strip car. I can provide a complete, 100% brand new, 35 spline assembly for under $2000.

If you NEED to step up to a "high(er) end", dedicated drag rear, I would skip the 9" in favor of a 9.5" Ultra-Case.

9.5" third-members start at $1800.

I run the ford 9" Give Bill Scribner a call 253-852-6088. He can set you up with many different options to fit your budget. He’s the best in the northwest.

I would give Cass (DrDiff) a call and order a D60. Did it about 5yrs ago and have thrown 750hp at it in a 3800lbs street/strip car with either an automatic and a 4-speed behind it. Not a single problem. Meanwhile it's in a big slick, lightweight clutchless 4-speed car but not much experience jet to say something about it.

I ordered my stuff from http://quickperformance.com/ Complete 9" Strange aluminum case with full spool and gears $1090.00, new 9" housing with Moser axles, bearings etc. $710.00 Weld on rear disc kit $239.00 Pretty close to your budget numbers. I was very happy with all my stuff from them.

I run a fabricated 9in.from midwest chassis it has the aluminum 3rd member strange 35 spline axeles and spool I broke an 83/4 this 9in is actually about 8lb. lighter than the 8 3/4 was that was one of my reasons for not going with the dana and the cost of the fab. 9 was $1,800.
