I have a set of Childs and Albert Duramoly file fit rings for my 408. I gathered the parts for this build back in 2001 and am just assembling it now. Well I screwed up the ring gap on one cylinder pretty bad. I went to .025 on the compression ring gap on one too many trips to the ring filer, I was shooting looking for .016. I tried the tech support line listed in the directions and hit the internet hoping I could get a replacement from them. It looks like they went out of business in 2008. My ring set was RS-9771-35 4.030 bore 1/16 1/16 & 3/16. I am using Ross Forged pistons. Does anyone know a source for old stock. Is is possible to buy a single compression ring or just a set of compression rings in general without replacing the entire ring set? Any thoughts or assistance out of this would be appreciated. Scott

Other than hi scustom Stocker and Super Stock type stuff, his rings were just re-boxed Speed Pros. Look up that same number under Speed PRo, and/or get ahold of Ackerly-childs. You will find out that it is quite expensive to get a single set or single ring. You can get them much easier as singles from Hastings rings.

Thank you for the fast reply. Is is possible to replace just that one ring with a Hastings, or is is better to do the entire set of compression rings? Scott

Thanks Again for the information. Ackerly-childs is able to send me a replacement at a very reasonable cost. Scott

You engiine will never know the idfference and you will never notice a difference in performance even on a dyno. In fact I would put in what you have and run it. It will not change the performance there either. Here ia good read: http://www.kb-silvolite.com/article.php?action=read&A_id=56
