Hi Guys

I have a real annoying issue with my lights. They pulsate. all of them, go dim and then bright. My voltmeter confirms it! I'm pulsating too between 14.3 and 15 volts.

Anyone else have this issue?

Voltage regulator? Or just another crappy Chrysler alternator? I threw mine as far away as I could and retrofitted one off a Chevy Sprint of all things on my Dart. Just had to tweak one lousy bracket to line up the pulleys. It has an internal V.R., and I said goodbye to dimming headlights............

does your machine have one of the old mechanical voltage regulators?.If so they are available & the same size(bolts right on) with electronic guts.

I'm not a 100% sure, but the current one looks pretty beat up, and its one component that didn't change after I upgraded to my Digital 6 and MSD distributor

measure the voltage AT the headlight itself. betcha a BUD its some bad grounds.
mopar altenators will dim the lights at idle.. NOT make them flicker.

To make the lights flicker then, the ground would have to be intermittent. A loose ground at a headlight will dim the light all the time, would it not? Or have I had too many beers today? Are there any other gremlins?

Pics, no. Could get one if I could figure out how to post it. Works fabulous. I think it's a 55 amp deal, no dimming lights, runs the accessories fine, including an electric fan. I don't know if I can get a part number off of it, but it's for a '95 Sprint if memory serves. Any later than that, they come with a serpentine pulley.........

take off your voltage regulator & see if the back side has wound resistors visible. If so get the solid state replacement for ~$20 & I would (almost ) guarantee problem solved.
