Sox and Martin 71 Cuda stalled at 450k

Was this the car that sold for over 900k a year or so ago ?

It could be. The Ray Allen Chevelle that went for stupid money about five years ago sold last year for about a quarter of the previous selling price. I think the market has moved out of the stupid money realm and moved to a more realistic number.

ive always wondered if a $700,000.00 car (car A)
purchased at auction...
(car A) re-sells for a lower $500,000.00 price is that car stigmatized?
over a car (car B) that say..
sold for the $700,000.00 figure at the same period as (car A)at auction but has yet to be put on a new auction...in this new climate..
so it hasnt had an official lower bid sale on its record...
obviously the market has tappered..
but if it stabalizes...
is the (car A)$500,000,00 car stigmatized ?

The hot ticket were the factory Race cars with some history and documentation. But now it looks like things have changed.Definitely prices are down all over the board.

The old saying "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear" applies in some of these auction sales. In some cases shilling is done with the car's owner somehow involved. The reasons are many but why and how is strictly case related.

The Pseudo twin MALLORY magneto ignition system in that Sox Cuda is 100% incorrect as is the drive they are mounted upon..
for more inaccuracy just check out the ridiculous and totally incorrect wire ends used in the cap .

this is the correct set up.You can see for yourself . there's a groove in base of that twin mount drive the Mecum car did not have

also it's tunnel ram linkage is not a S&M product built in house but a modern one from Enderle.
In reality it makes one wonder just how close the "restoration" comes to the one driven back then.

Grant it, this is BIG money stuff, so everything should be there. But if the documentation is there, there's SUBSTANTIAL proof the car is genuine, I think to be fair to all something as minor as linkage can be accepted. Hey are, after all,30-50 year old racecars that have perhaps gone through a dozen owners or more, have been raced and/or rebuilt God knows how many times, so what would you expect?
If I had the money, I'd have happily paid for the car & couldn't have cared less about the linkage...

I was thinking the same thing watching it yesterday, I saw one of there cars at the R&R mopar yard in Missouri (inside of course) about 13 years ago and it looked like it was in original race condition from the day, that is how I would want it.

The Grumpy Camaro was a no sale at $300k and the Grumpy Vega stopped at $200k IIRC. I think I overheard the cuda had to be at least $900k to sale. That is nuts!

Actually just finished this one. It was an old Johan model kit from the mid seventy's that I had purchased about 20 years ago. In kit from it was worth about $100. Now that I have built it, it's probably worth $10 Couldn't resist doing it anyway.

The 71 car wasn't much left when it was restored. Heard it was a basket case to begin with. Finding old CORRECT race parts is harder then finding old resto parts. I could have sworn the 71 car had a rack and pinion mounted in the K member when I saw it a few years ago. must have changed it.

Fred, this looks like S&M stuff!

Looks like Sox and Martin stuff. ?
Considering S&M had a huge parts department and an even larger base of customers
They must have sold hundreds of intake & carb sets. But they could also be purchased elsewhere.
During the first year or two of Pro Stock there were little if any choices for parts.
98% of the Mopars used that same Weiand tunnel ram.
Direct Connection bulletins recommended it along with instructions for the proper jetting.
The only other made was Edelbrock and few used it. .
The linkage on that eBay link is an S&M product that was on the 98% also.
The main reason is everyone followed what the factory boys said to use.
Listen to them and buy the right parts and it would run like theirs did.

Substantial proof ? would you care to explain exact what type of proof ? There is a member here that works for one of the largest collector car dealers in the world. He contacted Mecum on behalf of one of his customers and requested any documentation or paperwork validating the cars history. He was told they had nothing to show but what they were told by the seller to include in the advertisement.Nothing was there
