It's a '48 D24 four door sedan and for power, I am thinking 318/904. I have not choose a rear yet,any suggestions? BTW- Are there any differences between the '46-'48's?? I can't really tell??

poorboy I Live Here Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 10,945 Freeport IL USA	Everything I've read say the only differences between a 46 and a 48 Mopar is the date on the title. The demand for new cars after WWII was so high, anything the car companies put out sold. There was differences in trim because the supply was limited and they changed as the available supply changed. Dakota rear axles work well, as do B body 8 3/4. If you not concerned about fender clearance, nearly any rear axle will fit, these cars are pretty wide with a factory tread width of about 60". Gene

cuhemida member C Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 94 Pa. bucks county	hey building a 48 dodge coupe now still a lot to do i put a ford 8.8 in it with dic. brakes fit nicely other than that all mopar 318 with a little better than a stock 340 cam (mopar purpleshaft) preforma intake 600cfm carb later model small block iron exhust haven't made up my mind yet what trans i have a 727 and a 518 think im useing the 518 dakota trans 1998 dakota bucket seats 1981/82 dodge marida magwheels and now looking at chopping the top 4 1/2 inches

I used the Fat Man dropped support kit and their disk brake kit with the rack & pinion steering kit. If I was doing it over I would go with an M2. Something I could fit to the stock frame. By the time you rebuild the stock front end and buy this other stuff you have spent $2500 bucks. No Stock

The frames on that era car is massive and it is not an easy one to put a MII on , if its your first .. It was my third and after it was done, was nice but a lot of fab work to make it work And well, the 440 didn't help matters

I own a few DeSotos myself, but not quite that old. My oldest one is a '50 (new body design). Einar in Norway.

He has posted pictures before, hopefully he can again. No other news on how the car came out or how the new owner likes it. Maybe an update, Daryl?

We ran a fuel injected 340 with a 727. We used a Volare clip and the rear end from the Volare also. We changed the car to a Plymouth because she liked the grill of my 46 Plymouth coupe better than the Dodge grill. Message me if you have any questions...maybe I can help [image][/image]
