i,ve been looking at some ram 2500 4x4 trucks. time to upgrade from my 2001. i have looked at several 2007 ram 2500 quad cabs with the 5.7 and auto trans. some that i look at have the 4 wheel drive lever on the floor and others have the switch on the dash. i'm talking same year and same engine option. why both ways and which is better??

Its a option.Some people like the puch button so they dont have to reach down and do it.But you are adding another motor,switch,relay,ect to break or quit working.

Get one with the stick in the floor. Less problems for sure.

Beginning in 2007, the transfer case floor shift was only available with the ST (base) and Power Wagon packages. SLT, Laramie, etc. come with the electronic shift.

I ordered my 07 Ram 2500 SLT 4x4 with the floor shift per the order form/sales catalog but it arrived with the electronic shift. Found out later only the ST strippers get the handle.

I've always been a handle 4x4 guy but the electronic has performed flawlessly.

the truck that i am going to sign the papers on monday is a 2007 SLT model and it has the lever on the floor.
