Just wondering what some of you folks have used for a street/strip car with A/C??

I'm talking ragged edge, most you could get away with and how?

The vehicle is about 3400 lbs, 360, 9:1, 308 heads, headers, various Holleys/AFB's to try (600, 625, 650 spreadbore, 700 DP), 727 mildly built w/3k stall, 3.55 gear.

I've currently got a reground hyd. roller with 228 at .050 intake duration. I can advance it a little and dial in the mech advance on the distributor too.

Would really like to try to get into the low 13's if possible.

I run a 10-1 340 with a Mopar .474 cam. I'm not sure of the duration is off hand.
Car has choppy idle and needs about 15-18 degrees of advance at idle. Runs very smooth with a victor jr(single plane) intake with Edlebrock 600 carb. I've driven it alot all over with the AC running even Vegas heat in July for hours at a time.

I'm sure I could get a motor with more cam that this to run well with AC.

Mine is a 727 with a Coan converter specked for my car. 3.55 gear

Put a fast idle solenoid on the carb and go crazy.

I can fix it... my old man is a television repairman.
He's got the ultimate set of tools... I can fix it.

Currently Mopar-less

Thanks guys!

I've already considered the F/I solenoid and will do. Do they sell an aftermarket piece for a Holley??

Also, coincidentally have an old MP 280/474 cam. It's in the 234 at .050 range IIRC.

Will very likely stay dual-plane. Have an Edelbrock Performer and a Perf. RPM to choose from. I know the compressor will clear the Performer.
