Ok, so just talking with the brother in law and got to thinking how these two piece trunk floors look when installed. Do they stick out like a sore thumb? Anyone got any pics or experience with this. Is this considered a no no or what? I know the 1 piece are available but need the tail panel or quarter off to be used.

Depends on hw much work you wanna do...I've used three of them on my cars & the seam can be made imvisable from in the trunk & underneath the car...But most people just hide the seam with the trunk matt & call it good....

They look a whole lot better than a rotten floor! so it depends what you are doing... do you have a high dollar 440/Hemi car??? or do you have a normal nice car that you want do drive and enjoy? Remember no one will ever pull up your carpet to look a your floor unless you tell them to do so. if you are concerned about the underside... you can have your bodyshop do a butt weld instead of a seam weld... it takes longer and is more expensive but if they do a good job you won't even see it. Are you going to undercoat the car? if so, go with a seam weld and be done with it. spend your money elsewhere!

I used them in my car, check out the pictures in the link below. I think they look good. But we took the time to make the seam virtually invisible.

Good luck

When I started my project all that was availabe was the two piece trunk floor. Since I changed the tail panel it would have been great to avoid the seam weld and simply install a 1 piece. I use to call my self a novice; however now that I have at least completed one project I am more of a rookie at the welding and painting side of things. When I tackled the trunk pans in my project before getting sidetracked by another project I was a true novice. I ended up welding just a touch to long and created a heat warp along with several burn through holes. When the 1 peice pans became available I considered getting rid of the two halves; however my son convinced me nobody would ever see it unless I made a point of showing it so in the end I installed the welded unit into the car.

While this picture was taken a while back before I had the extensions installed and does not show the entire pan this gives you an idea that even with all my mistakes the two halves can still be made to look okay:

My advice is if the tail panel is OK in your car I would not remove it just to use the 1 piece trunk pan.

I recall reading several previous posts where someone claimed that you could install a one piece pan in the car without removing the tail panel or a quarter panel. I believe the trick had something to do with bending or trimming a corner section that would allow you to get it in there. You might try the search option or maybe someone with first hand experience will eventually chime in on this thread.

I saw that too. I thought they cut out the braces behind the seat to get it in?
