'68 B bodies without A/C don't have a water valve, coolant flows continuously through the heater core and the blend door controls the temperature.

I believe thats the rule for E-bodies too, at least 70's.

Same for 66 B bodys. That's why I'm getting ready to add one to my Coronet. The heat leaks through the blend door and it's too toasty in the footwell cruising in the summer. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/weld.gif)

I found a simple ball valve at Lowes for the heater hose (that isn't to big and clunky looking)and put it inline so that I can now shut down the flow in the Summer. Its amazing how much more comfortable the interior is on a hot day! Makes a huge difference.

Did your car come with a heater hose valve? So far every mopar I have ever owned has one, but I thought I would be sure. Apparently a lot of newer trucks and cars don't. Just curious about 60's and 70's mopar. This is for the painless 5.9 setup.
Year and model would be nice.
Also anyone that did not have one stock so I can get a feel for it.
I am pretty sure unless it had A/C its not going to have a heater control valve.

I'm going to try and install a vent cable to a valve I got off ePay, I dunno if I can make it work. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wrench.gif)

after reading these posts I need to check & see if one of my doors/cables is misadjusted. With the levers off I shouldn't be getting this amt of heat inside.

Even if the cable is properly adjusted it's not uncommon for a deteriorated rubber seal on the blend door to allow heated air to enter the cabin.

OK, not to hijack....still on topic, so bear with me on this one!!! The heater core has two hoses. I assume one is supply and the other is return. If I were to put a cut-off valve on the supply hose do I have to have a bypass between the supply side hose and the return side hose? Effectivly bypassing the heater core. (if that makes any sense) Thanks ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beer.gif) Frank
