I'm putting a exhaust on my valiant. 360 484/484 cam , 4brl, intake , headers. Right now it has dual 2 1/4" exhaust to glasspacks. I'm wondering if I could get any power out of 2 1/2 or 3" exhaust.

2 1/2" wouldn't hurt but 3" is too big.

2 1/2 would probably be the best for the exhaust. However if you do plan bigger upgrades, IMO I dont see 3" being too big

IMHO anytime you restrict the ex with a collector reducer you are loosing power. Use 3". but 3" is harder to quiet & there have been some good threads recently on muff selection. That & an H pipe or much better an X pipe crossover setup & always resonators or some kind of glasspack in the tailpipes or wherever you can fit em. watch for restrictions INSIDE the muffs & spring for mandrel bends.

It can be loud, I dont drive it on the street. Just a cheap ole fun race car.

hi
my sone used the 3 in kit with new headers from summit on his mildd 360 and he got a signifagant power increase !!

had to oval one pipe for some clearance but fit was pretty good otherwise.

Depends if you have mandrel bends or not. If not go 1/4" up to size the pinch points.

That said I'd go 2 1/2 with mandrel bends. 2 1/4" would better suit a closer to stock build.

for the price the summit A body kits (2.5 or 3") are hard to beat. I'd probably go 3" for race only, 2.5" for street/strip
