so you dont think the 9" will last???? its not going to be a heavy car i dont think i know it will have good power..
thanks mike
You did notice the pot stirring emoticon.........yes ? Look under every race car you think is pushing 1,000 h.p. and check what kind of rear end they use. The vast majority will be what ? Class ? Granted , most of them were never touched by any of Hank's employees. But they are most certainly based on the 9" Ford.

The Ford 9" should be fine if the large bearing race housing is used. I wouldn't use the 572-13 Indy heads as they will struggle to make 1000HP. It takes B1's fully ported, 7.1 rods (I use aluminum), light piston, 14-15-1 compression, 800+ lift cam in the 288int. 298ex@50 zone, I use an eagle 4.500 crankshaft, and an 1150 APD carb. It makes 1040@7200. It's for sale if interested.

588" Indy aluminum block, B1 orginal heads, 16:1 compression, 700+ lift cam, Hogans sheet metal tunnell ram intake, 2 Pro-Systems dominators, Moroso vacuum pump, Peterson 5 stage dry sump, don't remember brand name of rods and pistons. 1100hp. Powerglide, 9" Ford, 4.10 gears. Resides in a '72 Duster round tube chassis car that weighs 2,250# without driver. Haven't made a full pass with this combo yet. Will be testing with it this spring. Hoping for 5.0s 1/8 mile on motor only.

A guy I race with has a small cubic inch small block and a pair of small turbos run on E-85 makes 980 to the wheels runs a 9" rear with factory 3.55 gears a really tight converter 30" tire drives it thousands of miles and runs low low 9's @ 150+ and is capable of going faster.

How many passes on a set of aluminum rods?
I put 200-250, but I know people that put lots more. The main thing is it's easier on all of the other components, crank, block, bearings, etc.
