I buddy of mine called today and a 71 RR has come into the local boneyard, but he was suspicious because it had a a G in the engine code. it has E44 on the fender tag in the engine slot and since I am on the road don't have my book. THe vin is RH23G1....I think. Is the G a 318 and did a 71 RR ever come with a 318 or has someone just put the badges on it, it even has a very weathered RR stripe??

H is for high level of trim. The special handling cars usually got an S, for 71 RR I won't swear to it but H sounds wrong. G is for 318...  looks like someone slapped some stickers on

Got the dash emblem and the grille emblem as well, but my gut is clone, even if it is an old clone, I was thinking RM would be the right start of the VIN. Thanks for the input.

all 68-74 roadrunners where RM cars. period. and before the fecal hurricane starts,
yes I know about the oddball 73-74 gTx's.

hey there, i believe that all roadrunners came with a 383...that was the package for it...sort of their identity. a 318 only came in the satellite versions.i think someone spent some money on some bogus decals. the gtx came with the 440. hope this helps, thanks PHM

68-69 383 optional 426 and 440-6 in 69.5, 70 383, 440, 426, 440-6, 71 not sure and at some point 340 and 400 was available and later even the lowly 318-2, didn't think 318 was available for 71 but had to ask. When was the 340 available?

You could get a 440 4bbl in a 70 RR ? I have never seen one.
