You could make the 1/2 and 3/4 shift rods out of straight tube and rod ends pretty easily, but the reverse rod has to be bent and would be a pain to get right.
I'd keep searching ebay and racingjunk for used kits. I had good luck at swap meets as well.

I used the stock ones on my 68, it worked fine.
8.30's @3400 lbs
