OK gang I need some advise and am in search for a carb thats done and does not need a rebuild, ect. I have a bastardized 67 short wide power wagon that I have been on again off again working on and restoring. Its a 318 truck with a 4 speed. Nothing fancy. It ran fine when I pulled the 2 barrel carb and original manifold. I pulled the manifold as the heat cross overs are/ were semi plugged and went aluminum manifold/ Weiand Action Plus. I am going to use an electronic distributor conversion for it as well.

What CFM and what is best/ most reliable for this application? I am not looking for horse power, just good reliable carb????

I'd drop a 600 holley or a 625 carter on there & be done with it...

The 625 will be the easiest, the holley when tuned will probably run better.

Niether would be any better than the other for your application, I'd choose the one that was cheapest.

If you are going to drive it off road you really have three choices:

1) Quadrajet

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-210200/

2) Edelbrock Off-road 650:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-1826/

We run one of these on the Punisher truck and it has worked quite well. Not my first choice because I already had tons of Holley calibration parts but we got it cleaned up/calibrated and it runs very well.

3) Holley Truck Avenger 670:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HLY-0-90670/

I run this carb on my Orange '70 W100 and it works awesome as well. It is a little different on the the jetting due to the check balls in the emulsion feeds.

If you want more detailed info please let me know.

All of the motors we run in the trucks are LA's FWIW. Base altitude is ~4200 and I have been over 8000 with both trucks.

We have put on over 1000 miles in the mountains this week alone! I love my Power Wagon.

A little snow shoeing trip up to Soda Mtn...had to pull a Jeep out of the road before I could turn around.

I've used both holley's and eddy's in similar applications. Really can't go wrong with either...I was very pleased with the results of both. If you like to tinker, get the eddy...it'll give more tuneability than the holley. But the holley does give you some things to play with too...

go with the cheapest imo.

Off topic, is that KK1 color code on the old dawg?

If so, where did you get the paint?

Two stage? One stage?

The color on the truck is Q5 turquoise metallic. cheap shop line/ PPGS lesser brand. I did it to match a 67 dart.

Dave. oh and two stage.
