I've got a friend with a Dart looking for 15" tires with a higher speed rating and better performance than what you get out of BFG Radial T/As. He's wanting to keep a bit of that sleeper look and wants to stay with 15s. Drag racing is NOT a concern. He'd like to try some open road events and occasional track days.
I don't see anything in the common 235/60-15 to 255/60-15 range.

I just searched Tire Rack.. They offer exactly 4 tires in 235/60-15... Wow!! It has gotten allot worse in just the last few months, if this keeps up 15" tires are gonna be history soon..

Best thread I've seen on 15" tires is here; http://www.pro-touring.com/showthread.ph...-which-to-choseIMO, in a widely available radial option, Mickey Thompson SRs. H speed rated, no tread wear rating but they are claiming around 15-20k, which would make them pretty soft. Maxxis Marauder is another wide radial, UTQC rating around 300, but not easy to find.

Thanks. I forgot all about pro-t and g-machine. I haven't logged into those sites in years.

As recently as a few years ago you could still get V-rated 15 inch "cop tires". These were the Firestone PV41 and the Goodyear RSA.
I bought a pair of Firestone 225-70-R15s to go on the front of my Charger to match up with the V-rated Nitto drag radials out back.
That's pretty much it as far as size goes.
Discount Tire Direct has the RSA's for 128 a pop. Don't see the PV41s anywhere, although Bridgestone still lists them on their website.
Bumping up to 16 inch wheels will obviously open up your options somewhat at the expense of the sleeper factor.

Lack of 15" tire availability has lead me to use 17" wheels and tires and all I have are A bodies. The problem is obviously worse with the bigger cars. I can't see staying with 15s if he's truly serious about performance.

I just ordered a pair of these 225 60R 15s' for the front of my car. They are V rated, and are shipping from the manufacturer. They have yet to arrive and according to customer service, they have a 3 to 5 week lead time from the manufacturer. I ordered them from Summit with the 15% off holiday discount they had going. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KUM-1762113/

I am not familiar with new cars. Do any cars use 14" or 15" tires besides the collector car market? Do you think it would be wise to switch your cars up to 16"?
225/60/15 was used on late 80's/early 90's Mustange 5.0 and GT's. Also some Jags of that era. So pretty good demand for that size.
Can't think of any car that can OE with 235/60/15 or 245/60/15 in the last 30 years?
Maybe some 70's Porche, Pantera, or european stuff??

I'd think there's enough of us doing burnouts in our muscle cars to keep 235-60-15 and 245-60-15's in production. The number of manufacturers may drop to just a couple, but some demand will still be there for that product.

If you are going to go up from 15", I would go to 17"...you will have a much larger size selection (and probably will for a while) compared to 16" stuff which will limit you somewhat as well.
That said, I had some 8" and 10" wide 16" Boyd billet wheels in Oz I was thinking of putting on a truck I just sent over to sell, but figured I would be really out of luck for anything wide and decent looking. I got way, way, way, way lucky at Long Beach swap meet and found some new looking (and no longer made) BFG T/A's in 295/50-16 and 265/50-16 Never even knew they made such a size! Guy said he had bought them about 8 or 9 years ago and never used them.
And the only reason I bought the Boyds was they were super-super cheap for a 2 piece wheels, since I guess no one else figured they would find tires for them.

I agree they will probably stay in production but they will be carried through speciality tire houses like Coker and such. BFG radial T/A are allready being sold there. And the price has jumped up too.
So I think you'll just be paying 25%-50% for the low volume compared to similar quality tire in a more desired size.
