Hi, I have a 98 Durango, I'm getting some heat, but not hot. I did all of the usual checks and found that the Rad. Cap is not hot after running for a while, nor is the Lower rad. hose. New cap by the way, 16lb. The top hose and heater hoses are hot. I was thinking thermostat or clogged Radiator. Any thoughts or experiences?

more like clogged heater core, you can try fushing the heater core, sometime it helps other times not.if you do try to flush it hook garden hose to the one coming out of water pump first, flush that way first then flush the other way.btw the bottom rad hose should be cool as the coolant has passed through the rad to cool it.

Is your temp gauge in its normal range? If its running cooler than normal the thermostat could be stuck open causing a no heat situation. If your top hose is hot that means the 'stat is open and coolant is flowing. The lower hose should be cooler as it picks the water back up out of the radiator after it's been cooled. If you're radiator was plugged it would be running very hot. Now the heater core being plugged would cause your problem. Check both heater hoses and see if they are both hot. Could be a blend door inside your heater that's stuck in cool mode as well.
