Whats the trick to remove the upper dash pad on a 69 Satellite. I remember it had some small studs with twist on nuts to hold it when I took it off nearly 20 years ago. I cant remember how I did it & I'm not as agile (or limber)as I was then & I really need to remove it so I can repaint it.

its hard but you just have to weisle a nut driver up in there.when i put mine back together i just used wing nuts.one more thing it really helps if you drop the steering colum down.

6 nuts, 3/8 socket, use 1/4" drive with an assortment of extensions and wrestle away. The inboard ones are easier if you drop the heater control assy. Gotta pull the A-pillar trim, which means dropping the side roof rail moldings. Much easier if the cluster & glovebox are out, but they're no party either, so if they're in the dash, I just deal with it.

I have not removed the A-pillar trim, but everything else is out of the way. Plus the car has a roll cage since its a racer. So its a bit tought for me to bend & twist up in there. I am trying to clean up the dash & make it look pretty. The pad was painted many years ago with Dupont Vinyl Dye & has been flaking off. Sounds like its going to be a bear to do So there's 6 of them up in there huh? Oh well thanks guys

you didnt say if you took the seat out but it helps, then get some big pillows or roll some blankets up to support your head and shoulders,if you comfortable and in a good position it goes alot quicker.

Yep that sounds like the way to do it. Thanks for the tips
