I would like to get a non-console pistol grip shifter handle for my 68 Charger. The closest I can find is a 70 b body non consold pistol grip. Would this work? Does anyone know why they don't they make 68 pistol grip shifter handles?
1970 was the first year the factory sold the Pistol Grip shifters, however the 1970 handle (console or non console) will fit the 68 just fine

You can use the handle but the shifter handle will probably hit the dash. If you use a 70 shifter body you should be fine.

I have a 72 GTX one in my 65 B body.I used my good box though as the later boxes were cheaper than the 65 box.Rocky

...Because the 68 levers were "Inland" & bolted to the shifter like this.
Only early 68's, later built cars had the Hurst box and shifter. As Dan said, Brewers offers and easy fix adapter if you have an inland car, or you could just swap out the entire assembly for a Hurst box, rods, and shifter.

In my opinion pistol grips look totally out of place in any car 69 or earlier.
That's true I really like putting the shorter A-body shifter in a B-body. Looks factory but has a shorter throw!

Why? The '70 interior is near identical to the '68-'69.
Wanna see out of place? Here's one in my '06 Mustang. It's more about ergonomics than esthetics.
