Here's a pic of a friend of mine's 71 taken last year at the race track. Has 16.5x31 hoosiers on it. I mini tubbed it and moved the springs in about 10 years ago.
( Edit ) Wrong pic. Dont look like the race track. lol

It is an old school back halfed car, slicks are 33" x 17.5" Going to get rid of the leaf set up.

I've seen this done, use a large sheet of Plexiglas and warm it up with a torch in the center working too the outside. Using the stock hood as a template/mold coat it with PAM, butter flavor optional as a mold release. Lay the soft Plexiglas center over the hood and working the outside edges down with the torch and allow too cool.
In its soft state it will flow the trick is too move/work real fast, after its cooled mark the outside edges/border for trimming, gently pull and pry away, should come off if you laid a even amount of release agent(PAM). Trim the overhang/extra material, use Dawn dish soup with a clean rag too clean the underside and your done.
