Merry Christmas to everyone on Moparts. Has anyone ever seen a set of these headers before. Ive been told they are super rare and very few sets were made due to their high cost when new. These are N.O.S and never been bolted on a engine they are going on my 72 340-4spd Demon what do you Moparts guys think of them ?.

beutifull! glad they come to use! thats something that realy should be remade, and i gues they got all the tubes above the steeringcenterlink aswell!

there is just one thing that looks alitle odd,is there enough space for the oilfilter?
my gues is that that design would have a big benefitt when it comes to groundclearance!

what kind of tubesize are they BTW?

Only think I can see is that the width of all those tubes would run into something. Like that's double-wide down there.... Clutch linkage, frame rail, bellhousing width, etc, etc ???

someone stop me from cutting up these TTI's, please...

Ok, it sort of looks like 2 of the pipes come together before the bottom where the other two come together?? So there's really not 4 pipes wide on the end of the headers were the 2 to 1 connectors go??

Those look like they would fit an early A as the #3 tube comes out and over, not down like most. I already grabbed the pics to put in my design folder...FYI Early-A motor mount closer to the front axle centerline so later headers always hit the centerlink and tie rods. Or later longer wheelbase A models moved the front suspension farther forward (probably more accurate)

Very cool. Let us know how well they fit and post some photos please.

Any part numbers or identifying marks?

Autoxcuda - Anything in your collection of early catalogs?

I only go back to the 76 DC Catalog. This from a 60's to early 70's Hustle stuff catalog supposedly. I'm going to look now at http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/library.shtml they have some Hustle Stuff catalogs online there.

The 65, 68, and 69 HiPo Catalogs don't show headers.

Do any of these seem to be Tri-Y type header.

Maybe 3549761 ???

HardCharger65, are you sure these were from Hustle Stuff? Wonder if they could be a Hamburgers part or some header company back in the day. Any part numbers faintly stamped on the flanges??

Here's the 71 Hustle Stuff...

AHA!

I was browsing through a '76 kit car catalog over the weekend and saw these exact headers listed in that catalog. So not exactly Direct Connection, but a close cousin.

So if the kit cars all came with the wider B/E front frame rails, then the those headers probably wouldn't fit an a-body chassis. They might not fit a standard E or B body either. Did the catalog have any other info?

Good point. I guess we won't know for certain until hardcharger65 tries them out on his Demon. I'd guess A body fitment to be questionable at this point, but they should fit in any B/E layout as the only alterations to the stock layout that was found on kit cars was some relocated upper control arm mounting points. Ground clearence was the major issue for these as the kit cars typically had a ride height of 4". I'd also guess them to have the oval W2 port configuration as compared to a stock dog leg port.

Not much info in the catalog. I could probably find a part number and description, but thats about it. The meat of all the details of every aspect of the kit car program were found in the assembly manuals, which are as rare as hen's teeth.

Hi Guys i wont be installing the headers till next year when the car is ready to be reassembled so i wont know for sure if they will fit or not. I bought them off a very well know Mopar collector and all around nice guy who lives in Detroit and has had just about every cool Mopar from 340s to Hemis ,in fact he has a cool ultra rare all original 64 hemi factory lightweight survivor car for sale right now . He told me he bought 2 sets of these headers off a retired Chrysler engineer over 25 years ago and that they are " Hustle Stuff " Tri-y 340 A-body headers i beleive him 100% he knows his Mopars and rare Mopar parts. Hes been into Mopars since the early 70s is highly respected and reputable . I cant find any part #s stamped into the flanges or any other place ive looked and havent found anything to indicate what they are or who made them. Ill talk to him and see if i can get any more info on them, hardcharger.

Hi Ed, These are super rare. I have one other set. I bought these from Al Nichols. Unfortuantely he has passed us on in Mopar Heaven. He was Chryslers Carb and small block Guru.I met Al at Gary Rollins Rapid Transit Car Club Swap Meet on Strathmoor in Detroit.Joy Rd. And Chase. Al did all the hot carb set ups from the mid 50's on up. He was a great guy and had a ton of rare and unusual Mopar parts. He loved 340's. He had a huge garage near Waterford, Pontiac area of Michigan. It was wall to wall with carbs, 340 blocks, heads, everything imagineable. He had lots of W2 heads, intakes etc. Nascar three barrel carbs, Six packs up the ying yang.Thermo Quads. AVS,Holley's etc. I bought a lot of parts from Al.I even have an NOS 69'Center Grille Bright Eye for a "C" body that was outlawed by the goverment mid year because it was labeled as too bright. It used a halogen bulb with a magnified lense.I bought that from Al also. I bought these headers from Al back in 83' These are tuned Tri Y headers. Each tube is the same length. These are for an A body 1967 to 1976. Manual steering is a must. The colletor is an adjustable length you would cut off an inch at a time slide it back in and see how much tenths your car would pick up in the qtr mile. Al told me these are Hustle Stuff Tri Y's and are extremely rare. They did not sell well because they were too expensive. If I remember correctly they were made by Hedman he said. They worked great on the 340 that they Dyno'd. They were made also for Super Stock legal 340 heads. They picked up the most cutting off three inches with the set up they used. They have standard 340 X head exhaust ports. Not W2 or any kit car head. Kit car headers came out to the sides immediately. Al did fine tuning on carbs and dist. curving.Als favorite car that whupped a lot of ass on the back lot of the Hamtramck headquarters and facilities was a 1970 Buick GS Stage 1.15" Steel wheels with dog dish caps. He ordered it new. Triple green Auto on the column. Manual steering. 4:10 posi. He tweaked the Rochester Carb jetted and different metering rods. Curved the dist. The car went 12:69's. The used his car to test new camshafts and different mods to the 70 Six pack and hemi cars. They never beat the GS. He still had it when he passed away. It had 19,000 original miles. He even kept it thru his divorce. Well there you have it. The source were they came from and waht they are. I never had the guts to use them because they were so rare. They hung in my basement for years. The set I have left is the set they dyno'd. Ed has the NOS set. They came red. Happy New Year.
