I'm still studying dry sump systems and there's not a lot of info out there.

If you had a six stage system which means 5 scavage ports where specifically would you plumb those 5 lines. I can see that probably 3 would go to the pan but exactly where and how would the other 2 lines go?? I'm looking at a hemi implementation.

I run a 4 stage pump 2 in the pan and 1 in the intake
valley... on yours you could run 3 in the pan(I like
to mount dividers in the pan so each line is picking
up right at the front of each divider wall... dividers
are not sealed to the bottom but slow the oil) then
2 up in the valley one front and 1 rear but mine is
a closed valley(no return)... if yours is open I would
put 4 in the pan
EDIT
Run a filter (screen type) on ALL suction lines
to protect the pump if the engine breaks

I think your question revolves around where is the last scavenge from?

If you have a 5 stage, you could do 3 in the pan and one in the valley. We usually do that if the valley is sealed off. Or you could just do 4 in the pan.
The 5th stage would be the scavenge out of the reservoir, pressure out to a filter, then into the block.

Hope this helps

Thanks, appreciate the input. I guess my question really is how do you get to the lifter valley, where is the line plumbed etc. How do you get to the oil in the valley?? That's the only area that is fuzzy to me, I guess some pictures would work wonders if anyone has some.

Thanks Guys!!

I have a valley plate on my SB and I drilled a hole
for a bulkhead fitting... the braided line mounts to
the fitting then on the inside I have a tube welded
to the fitting that goes to the back corner to suck
up the oil

Well the simple answer is that you put the lines where you need them. A circle track motor might put a line to the passenger side valve cover for example because oil will pile up there. A drag motor might put a line in the back of the valley. A boat motor with the engine mounted backwards will put the lines in yet another location.
