Powder coating out your way is sure cheaper than here
It must be, black is very cheap to do locally. Steel wheels are $25 each. 2 full length bumper reinforcements for my Duster, $20 for the pair. Another place did my K-frame, motor mounts, trans crossmember, 2 pulleys, master cylinder support plate, and Road Runner bumper brackets all for $250, but that was quite a few years ago. Find a place that does a lot of producton powder coating because black is always on hand and they will just throw your stuff in the same batch.

My friend just done his k-frame and rear end with the Rustoleum semi-gloss back and I cant believe how beautiful it turned out.He done a test spray on an old fender to check the durability of it and it shocked me how tough it was.Its not as tough as the exterme chassis black but about like the old chassis black. For $10 a quart I thought it was a steal.

Having mine powder coated in "Bk-05" Semi-Gloss black as week speak. Should be done on Friday. I'll post pics.
Blacks are inexpensive. The shop I use allows me to run my parts with big jobs they do for companies....so the cost is very reasonable. The downside is depending on the color I want, I sometimes have to wait several weeks until they run that color.

I don't think there is anything wrong with making sure it's nice and clean and then hitting it with a good coat of primer and gloss black, BUT I had mine sand blasted and powdercoated 'cause I'm lazy. The powdercoating is tougher and will last longer, but a good coat of paint is better than what the factory did and most cars aren't used as all weather daily drivers so it doesn't really matter all that much.

Here is what a freshly sandblasted K frame looks like after I hit it with Eastwood extreme chassis black for what it's worth... ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)
(When this stuff dries, it's like a rock!)
OZ-is that the high gloss in the can version?
It's the normal semi-gloss/satin in a spray can stuff. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif)
