366" small block, 0 deck, 12 to 1 comp. KB 190 pistons, Comp 305H cam 253 @ 50 5.25 lift (about 5.65 with my 1.6 rollers. Ported 2.02/ 1.60 J heads,
Eddie air gap. How much difference would a set of RHS heads make.

buddy has a 366 with kb107 and less comp. same cam with a good valve job and a clean up 904 trans and has gone 7.20 in the 1/8th so you shoould be running pretty good ....i think if i was going this route i would get the rhs heads with all the updates and go way faster..jmo it would be ahead of the game unless you have max ported heads now ..

It should get you there if your converter and gearing match the combo.

The eddy heads probally flow more air also, but I don't know that, anyone on here have flow sheets or in the car results to add

I can get a set of Eddys for a 340 (open Chamber?)
used for a good price but the KB web site says these pistons (KB190) won't work with the Eddy heads. I have all this stuff on hand except the Eddy heads. Can they be made to work at a reasonable cost?

While I agree that a WELL ported set of Eddies should run better,I'd stick with a good set of factory heads(ported) over a hack or stock eddie. I see few eddie combo's at the track that impress.

I have the KB 191 pistons and my RHS closed chambered heads should be here in a few weeks. I was told by the techs that milling the dome off the pistons was acceptable to make closed chambered heads work. Also depending on the dome you MIGHT beable to just use a thicker head gasket.

Built a guy in florida a 360/904 for his 69 valiant. He got some low 7.0s in the 1/8 shifting at 6600. That was thru the mufflers. His is a 30 over 360 with the kb191 pistons, comp cams 555 solid lift cam, Ported j-heads, Victor jr intake w/750 dp. 904 with a tight 8" converter. Weighs around 3100lbs with him in it. I know i can get some 6.80's with a little looser converter and some tuning.

Your combo is comparable to mine, and I've gone 11.28 @ 119.6 at a track elevation of 2800', and DA of about 4000'. My car weighs 2900 without me in it, and I think there's ET left in it with some tweaking. I'm running modestly ported J-heads, and I think there's some power to be had with the RHS heads.

With either head you will need to mill the quench dome on the KB190 pistons. How much Carb are you running?

problem with that is factory heads are prone to cracking and will cost about the same to port them. and I seen a 9.76 that was pretty impressive to me out of a set of indy/brocks at gville recently. I would go eddy all the way, only iron head I would use would be the RHS

I'm running a 750 Dominator, Plan to convert it to E-85 so I can run the higher compression

Not a stock set of eddies(or even close, lol) and not a mild combo, but yes they can work. The OP has nothing like the combo your thinking of.

i have a set of openchamber edelbrock340 heads and i cant realy see a reason why a piston for a stock non closed chamberhead wouldnt work the point with the open chamber 340edelbrock heads is that you can have a fairly good set of heads on a shortblock without changing your "stock type" popup pistons ,but im not sure on what kind of diference there is betwen the KB pistons and a stock 340piston

Edelbrocks all the way, IMHO there are too many advantages not to. My 340 with 11.2-1 compression a 237/242 hydraulic cam and ported Edelbrocks ran consistent low 7.20s at 3240# on pump 93. The same Edelbrocks have since gone 6.57 on a 10.9-1 408 with a 260/266 flat solid at 3260# on pump 93.
