I like the e-curve. It has 100 timing curves built in plus it has vacuum advance. It is a really nice combo for a street/strip engine.

my is to go with a box that has multiple funktions, retard, rpm switch etc etc you never know what you might want/do in the future.

The programmable MSD 6AL-2 has more features, but be aware that it has no real vacuum advance capability, in case that's important (for street driving).

Nope. I've asked a couple of times but they don't seem too interested in making a big block e-curve. I'd run one if they did make it. I like being able to change the advance curves with just a twist of a screwdriver. And not having an ignition box saves some weight off the nose of the car.

I agree, but am getting 50/50 comments on good/bad....if I end up throwing a 6 to it, that kinda kills the cost for me...???

Please post up some real world results & history

I don't see any bad comments, just some people telling you to buy something else. I'm not even sure why people are giving you that input since it isn't what you asked about.

The e-curve is a distributor, not an ignition box. It is an electronic distributor so you can quickly change the advance curve. Instead of welding up the slots, or changing springs, you just change a dial. So if you want a fast curve, or a slower curve, or more total advance, you just turn the dial. I've found it to be very handy to be able to change the ignition curve with just a twist of the screwdriver.

Thanks Andy....I totally understand how it works and love the concept....hence the thread....yes you can run it stand-a-lone or add a box (6al) etc.....but through searching info have heard nightmates on missfiring, complete failure.....then again those that simply love it....was looking on real world experience from my Moparts Brothers on those that may have some miles on the system....???????

The old school way: box, dizzy & coil is a little more, but not that much.....???????

I've had one for over 2 years, I like it, its clean, it works, its got VA, its flexible, It has all features needed, biggest negative is it takes a small screwdriver to adjust ( big deal), and I believe you can add a box later for additional ommph if needed. I'm suprised it hasn't caught on, maybe because I liked it.

And its only a few miles from Lehigh

Yeah I've heard the dials are a tad on the fragile side and really should use a jewlers srewdriver to adjust (no problem)

the timing curve... one I have it set its that way
for good with that engine set up... the only thing
with me is I dont need any extra hassles out on the
road... its a half a step above my boat... I dont
like fixing things on the water... which most of
the time you dont have the part.... I dont like fixing
things on the side of the road

We run one on Tim's road race Valiant. Works great and makes good power on the dyno. We tossed the MSD 6 box because it was just extra weight that wasn't adding any power. Being able to quickly adjust the timing curves is a big advantage for tuning. I suppose once the perfect curve was found, a person could duplicate it in an old school mechanical distributor for the sake of simplicity. We haven't seen any issues with the e-curve so far on the dyno or at the track.

I hear ya.....but looks like I'll have to be a guinea pig....the e-curve with coil is quite a bit less than the billet dizzy, 6AL & Coil pkg. Pulling the trigger on a bunch of stuff today to take advantage of the summit code & my pro-discount....should save a chit-load of $$$$$

I have been looking at the E-Curve for my 408 also. Too bad there does not seem to be a lot of actual hands on experience with this unit. I am hoping that Firecore comes out with their Small Block Dist soon, I would much rather give that one a shot given the good reviews on the big blocks.
