Which sure grip to use? Is the Auburn any good?

Get a Power-Loc (thats the clutch type). The Auburn cone types are an inferior design.

yes & found on 741/742 sure grip pumpkins tho this (good) SG can be added (& has been & several for sale here and there) to a 489 carrier that was either originally an open or had an Auburn sure grip (has springs that are visible)

If this is a new Auburn unit it's even worse than the borg warner cone type it mimics
