I have a 67 440 in my 72 Charger and want to tone it down a bit. The carb I have is a 6453S 74 360 HP TQ. I want to run a TQ but not sure if I should locate a big block one.

67 440, 915 heads. actual compression is unknown but I have 145-150 cylinder pressure all the way around. I am installing a Lunati Voodoo 60302 cam, performer intake, and will run stock HP manifolds with 2 1/2 exhaust. Strictly a street cruiser with all the power accessory's and AC going back on in time. Automatic trans with what appears to be a stock high converter and 3.55 rear gears.

I would not go with a TQ for a 360 as the main jets are likely to be way too lean for the 440...

Some people you just can't reach...

you could drill the jets out, somewhere in the 98 to 101 pri, 147 to 154 sec

It's worth a shot, I'd try it in stock form before modifying anything.

I ran a stone stock 71 4972 340 TQ on my 426 CID stroked small block and had an average AF ratio of 12.9. Ran like a charm and made great horse power, never went lean at all.

I think I will give it a shot, the carb is mint and I can up the jets if needed.

FYI on the jets and rods, you can score them from just about any 72 and later TQ if you want to try different sizes, even the smoggers from the late 70's/80's are good donors for jets and rods and are next to nothing to buy at swap meets.

Your T.Q. has the same pri and 2ndary jets as a big block '74 T.Q. It is an 850 cfm also used on big block engines. The jetting is close as-is, David.
