Hey guys since it's the winter time I am going over the cars looking to make them better and of course looking for more e.t. I currently run what I think is to steep of a gear in my Dart Sport at a 5.13. It is a 422" small block with a standard geared 904, weighs 2935lbs but will be 100lbs lighter next season and 33*15 M/T slicks. I don't feel like the car runs the mph it should. When I ran the 1/4 with it at the end of the season it ran 9.70@135 crossing at 7600 and shifting at 7200. I don't have much experience with experimenting with gear changes and results. What gearing have you guys ran after changes and what were your results? I am thinking of going to a 4.88 or maybe even a 4.56, what would the results be based on past experiences? Thanks.

What RPM do you want to cross the line at... I like
to cross the line at 10% more RPM than peak HP, so
if you know that number and know your conv slippage
and tire size you can figure the gear... if you get
a gear thats in between I go with the lesser gear as
init calls for a 4.65 and I would put a 4.56 in to
help the mph... if you have big torque go with a lesser
gear and let it pull harder and longer

The motor has never been on the dyno so I can't really help you there. The motor pulls the car hard out of the hole with a 1.30 60' but just seems to run out of gear. It ran a 6.10@111 in the 1/8th on the 9.70@135 pass. I lowered the shift rpm to 7000 to try and get it to cross at a lower rpm the next pass and went 9.77@134 and stayed around 9.73-9.76 the rest of the day but never ran 135 again.
