The distance between mounting flanges on the driverside of a 340 are 1/2 narrower than the 318. Here is a photo of the measurement on a 340. Approx. 2 1/2" 318 is approx. 3" measured the same way.

B/C/E body 318 mounts will work on any 340-360, the passenger side is a direct interchange...on the drivers side you can use the 318 mount on the 340-360 engine block, just bolt it to the ears of the block, you will see a small(1/8 to 1/4 gap)between the od of the ear on the block and the id of the steel bracket at 1 bolt hole, just fill in the gap with a stack of grade 8 washers or make a small spacer and tack it to the steel bracket.the quickest way to figure it out is to bolt the drivers side 318 steel bracket to the ears of the 340-360 engine block,2 holes and bolts will line right up and go in and tighten up putting the mount in its proper place....the third hole will line up also, just the above mentioned gap will be seen, fill it in and then tighten up all 3, your done. THIS WILL NOT WORK WITH A BODIES, JUST B,C,E .

These are A body style mounts one of which was converted. It will give an idea of the distance change.
These are early A body mounts but the later (72/73? up) use the spool mounts.

Make no difference that I have ever seen.
