Has anyone here ran the 165/80/15 radial tires on 4.5” rims? How do you like them on the street? More specific I have an A body. Anyone have these on a Dart or Valiant and have a photo of them and how they look?

I have a pair on the front of my 73 Duster, I had them on 4.5 wide rims and they seemed to be bowed a bit. Put them on 15 x 5 steel wheels and I think they look much better. I have not drove it much , cause the car is still under construction.

I have 2 sets for my 65 B body. They are mounted on different wheels so I can swap them when I want.My rims are 5 inch.No problems at all on the street. They are stable at 120 also.Had M/Ts on the front and the car was all over the road.Even at the track it wandered. The radials just go straight now.Rocky

See I was also looking at the mickey thompson et fronts. I do have there ET Street's in the back. I know mixing bias ply with radial is not the best thing to do. But is there any harm doing that?

no,you want to keep them in pairs though

2 front 2 back

dont mix them on the 1 front radial and 1 front bias

i run 165/80/15 on 3.5 welds up front on a 68 dart

did fine, want to watch rainy days and hitting the brakes hard

I had 73 front disc and they are in the air with a skinny so cooling was good on the hard braking

on rainy days they would get wet/fade and when I hit the brakes they would be wet and pull to one side

i got used to that so it was no problem and I slowed down in the rain anyways

only locked them up 1x,panic stop on the interstate doing 70mph...I slamed them super hard and they locked up till I backed off and grabed them again

I also ran the 11x2.5 drums on the back, had 10x2 and was ok,but the 11x2.5 stoped the whole car real nice/fast with no lock ups

Thanks for the input fellas. I believe these will work ok for me. The car is a cruiser not a DD or anything I will be driving alot. I think they will look great and it sounds like not too much trouble with bias ply in the rear.

I had the 165/80/15R on 3.5" wheels with Hoosier bias-ply 29.5X11.5X15W slicks on the rear and my car wandered alot on the track. I had asked the same question on the Race Only forum and there were mixed opinions. I felt sure it was the tires and not me. I put on Hoosier's front drag tire and all was fine,,no more wandering at speed. Evidently, they affect different cars in different ways.
