Mcleod will have one out mid 2015. They have a GM version now. I got a passion quote,it was much higher than Hurst,Tremec ,Silver and Mcleod. Sorry Facts are facts. Price was over 3k more. Needs to be more competitive in this market,IMO. Just passing info.
Jamie - i think you should raise the price by $500 My time is money - If its gonna take me 2 weeks of head scratching and hacking up a car to put in a less expensive product...........
I dont know about others, but i can make 70 + bucks an hour fixing equipment in someones building.
I estimate i owe Jamie about 2100 bucks . I literally had my transmission installed in 4 hrs. and had a 100 miles on it by end of day. Should have took me 2-3 im slowing down and misplace tools that i used 4 minutes prior.
Facts are facts .
This board is a great tool to observe other peoples mistakes , achievements and observations. Use it wisely , and be observant and youll have A Fast , unhacked , dependable car.
im not the oldest person on this board, but Had i woulda listened to others at times, it would paid for a lot of other good things. Like a deposit on a second tranny . Put me on the list for anuther.
Dont be penny wise and dollar foolish.

Does Jamie still make the 4 speed od kits anymore? It would be a nice holdover until I get an 855. Tim

Short of reading ALL 25 pages within this tread, how much is the A-855 going for? I have read some and I see two things; timing of email responses and production. I am seriously considering converting my 727 Daytona to a manual ( yes, Mike, you told me so ). But, I'm not sure which direction I'll go if I do. Apparently there's a couple of avenuses such as; 1. a straight up rebuilt of the A-833 I have 2. Passon 3. Tremec 4. I think there was another option?
At home, I have OEM parts: bellhousing ( aluminum for '70 and up? ) proper pedal assembly z-bar flywheel pedal rod floor pan hump fork crossmember
OK, Just got an email back from Jaime ( appreciate the quick response )..
$5000 for one unit... Didn't think they were that much... I'm sure it is well worth it... May have to weigh the cost of swapping out the 4.10's for 3.54's and just rebulding the A-833 I have already.

What exactly is your question?
It is worth the wait and expense for sure...especially on a Daytona.
Why not go ahead and do your conversion with the parts at hand then simply drop the 833 and add the 855 when it's available?

My original question was the cost and as I wrote this, Jaime emailed me back with the cost. Availability is one thing, cost is another. I may just go ahead and have my A-833 rebuilt and make sure all the other components I have are good to go then take the deep breath and have the floor cut for installation of the hump. I can either change out the 4.10's for 3.54's or keep the 4.10's and buy the A-855 later. I am not sure the later is an option since I loath driving the car on the highway with 4.10's without an overdrive unit. Currently I have a GearVendor in it now.

Troy, your dilemma seems fairly easy to solve for. I suggest you do the conversion and add Jamie's Hemi Overdrive conversion to you current 833. This will allow you to keep your 4.10s and still allow for highway cruising. Spend a little time on his site to look at that option as a great stop-gap until your 855 is ready. The last piece of this is for you to sell me the GV unit for my Satellite when your conversion is complete

Hello all, I am sorry its been a while. One cannot appreciate how busy we are getting things in order for production. I have a few moments so I wanted to pop on for an update. We are in process of producing individual components now. This is going acceptably. Not amazingly, but it could be worse. We are estimating to begin building units in about 6 months. The initial run will be approx 150 transmissions. We currently have well over 300 people waiting for the unit. Therefore, I expect to satisfy the list or at least be very close to satisfying it in two production runs.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THE FOLLOWING!!!!
I want to make sure everyone understands the process here because historically, people have viewed time frames as "at 6 months, there will be 150 built transmissions that have miracled themselves together and are in shipping boxes ready to ship." This is not how it works. We are putting in place an assembly line type layout. The intention is to component things out into assemblies. I do not have a scheduled "per day" amount built at this time. We will build as many as we can as quickly as we can. That is the best way that I can thing to handle that.
Regarding deposits. We are not requiring any at this time. However, shortly we will be requiring a 50% deposit from customers on the list to keep things rolling as efficiently as possible.
Admittedly, this has been a very difficult process. I feel that we have finally turned the corner on the project. I want to thank everyone that held out and didn't lose faith in us or the product. In the end, I have ALWAYS tried to be straight forward with people as to the issues that have developed during the project. Sometimes, updates have been far between but that is because we are working diligently to keep things moving ahead. In the end, I feel that this will have been a VERY rewarding journey. I have learned the reason NO ONE has had the guts to accomplish something of this magnitude. Everyone else has tried give a face lift to an existing platform unit and try to make it fit. However, it seems that in every case, concessions are made in one aspect or another. We have worked very hard to make this a trouble free easy installation. We have accomplished this.
In closing, I realize that this product is not for everyone. It is no doubt a premium product that requires a premium price. People fit into every aspect of the hobby and have all different budgets. This is what makes the world go around. Just because someone cannot afford it, or does not want to spend that much, does not make them a bad person. At the end of the day, we are not forcing anyone to buy this unit. No judgements are made if a person declines because of price. It is amazing though, how people will call to inquire and then proceed to dress me down about how crazy I am and there is no way that a transmission is worth that and yell and scream at me and in general be very rude. I do not hold it against them. These people obviously have no idea what is involved in creating something like this. Hopefully this will be kept to a minimum in the future.
As always, if anyone has questions, feel free to contact me. Just, PLEASE be patient for a reply. We always reply to people as quickly as possible. Email is best. I get very little time to come on here, so I do not recommend PM's.
Thanks, Jamie

I'm lucky to have received one of the first units last year. Its a fantastic piece and one of the best changes I could have done to make my car more universally enjoyable. Keep up the good fight Jamie, at some point I will be needing another one!

To help put the price into perspective on the five speed.... My face plated 18 spline aluminum 4-speed will have a price tag North of 4k and that is not accounting for the shifter, etc. A five speed that handles the same level of abuse is a bargain at the current price and beyond. It's always funny how people compare things when it comes to car stuff. People spend big money on NOS look alike plug wires and then start tripping on a 5k overdrive, bolt in transmission. More perspective: The Lenco ST-1200 with aerospace bearings, shifter and yoke is $5650 plus shipping. That's the Legendary Lenco 4-speed folks. I ordered my ST-1200 before Thanksgiving and it's still not here FYI. The trans that started this post will eventually be IN STOCK, ready to ship (correct me if I am wrong) if they can keep them on the shelf with the surging demand. We should all be thankful to Mr. Passon for sticking his neck and livelihood (as well as sanity ) to pull off a made-in-USA transmission that already has a legacy of it's own. Don't forget that all the while he has been supporting customers new and old alike with the same customer service we have all be graced with. I'm excited to beat on a Passon 5-speed.

I'm looking forward to the call for my deposit. I'm all set up, changing the Bee over to a Hemi box so I'm ready to bolt in when it comes...
