Yeah,
Its 12:05 AM and I'm STILL at the shop on Valentines Day... I've been here since 6:40 this morning. I am not crying by any means, but come on guys. I am not draggin my feet. BELIEVE ME! The bottom line is I don't want this: (ss700 thread on the question and answer forum) to happen to me. Not literally because I KNOW they fit, but nightmares for customers after the sale. I PERSONALLY installed one in each body style car. BUT, after this LONG road, the last thing I want is pissed off people calling and then trying to take care of problems that develop.

Toples, I can understand your thought process and agree to a certain extent about missing sales. Yeah, that keeps me up at night, but that is just part of the game. I have learned to deal with it. We are getting between 10 and 20 calls per day asking availability, so the interest is there. We have 228 preordered units so far as well. We are just about ready to start building. I am waiting on an interlock sample. As soon as I can prove that out, I will order the production run of those parts and start building.

I want to make this clear AGAIN. I never would have mentioned word one of this unit, but McLeod was supposedly ready to release a trans and because the market is so impulse driven, I had to say something. It still makes me angry that they forced my hand like that, but I was between a rock and a hard place. Oh well, water under the bridge at this point. We will keep plugging away.
Jamie

that's right....did the Mcleod tranny ever come to fruition, or is it just vaporware? I haven't seen any mention of it since it was shown at SEMA...

In a way, I'm glad you did, otherwise people (who were in no rush to get a trans) would have bought Keisler/Tremec units instead of waiting for this new A-855.

I'm still in Jamie I have been on the list for a while. I'm in no hurry still putting some $ back for this upgrade. The Hemi hasn't ate the 23 spline yet so all is good.

i agree. for good or bad, this thread is here, and that means the rumor mill is as well. pop in and give a one or two line update when you can, and that will keep everyone satisfied!

Jamie, I gave your father all my information at the Nats last year. Hope to see this product soon. I am still a buyer when you come to market with it.

Jamie,
Can you speak to performance of the new 5 speed in your various testing? I'm still interested in one, as well.

My conserns are Power shifting and doing it at higher rpms. Really pounding the crap out of it. I regularly let the clutch out at 6K at the track. I also drive my car all over the place in slow traffic and rural roads. I truely drive my car street and strip.

Has any of your testing involved drag strip testing yet?
What types of cars / power levels have your transmissions been testing in?

I've gone from 23 spline trans and having some inconsistent problems power shifting at 6400rpm or so. Now I have an 18 spline and different clutch setup. Hoping to be able to keep that Right foot on the floor and never lift between shifts up high too. So far, I think that my new setup will be fine.

But I'd love to hear you speak on some performance testing of the new trans!

Larry

Larry,
I have tested the trans in my 70 Dart Swinger. 689 HP Indy headed 440. 4.56 Dana 60HD. Shifting at 6500 on the track. No in car footage as the Go Pro malfunctioned. I don't lift my right foot ever when I race. Trans survived fine. We already ruined an 8 3/4 Ring and pinion in a 69 Dart Stroker Small Block that we were testing in as well. I have in car footage of that, however, there is A LOT of wind noise that over powers the speakers, so its isn't the best, but you can see that I am not lifting. I also have other in car footage in a '75 Dart Sport with a 340 six pack, but for some reason there was no sound on that. I was shifting at 6000 in that not lifting between shifts. Larry, I am confident that you ain't gonna break it.

Jamie,
I like what I hear. No doubt! Sounds like you drive / race them like I do.

I'll start saving my pennys! I want one.

Jamie,

Did the cars have slicks and what were the weights? I have a similar hp engine but running an E body with slicks. Weight and sticky make a big difference.

Thanks for all of your efforts to bring us a needed product.

Damon,
Car Specs:
70 Dart Swinger
3660 lbs
689 HP Indy Headed 446 CU.IN.
Dana 60 HD 4.56 Gears
29X10-15 Hoosier Slicks
Launching at 4500 RPM (I had no reason to launch at 6500 like LAR414)
Car ran 10.68 with torquflight. Was running 11.03 with stick. Lauching this hard brought to light the terrible inadequacy of the rear suspension on the car. Car was literally jumping vertical off the ground on the line. Missed 2 shifts all night. They were definitely operator error. I am not going to lie to anyone. I didn't rent the track for the day and make 200 runs. However, I feel the trans stood up well. We didn't break anything.
I am not trying to outdo anyone on testing. So, hopefully this post doesn't create a tit for tat thing with who tested what way better. We are truly working our very hardest to provide the best quality piece to everyone. This is why I am trying to pay attention to every detail to the extent that we are.
Jamie

Jamie,
My little motor doesn't have the torque that yours does!

I actually found that launching higher helps my car. 5,800 last time out with 1.58 60' spinning the wheels and lifting the front tire off the ground to an 11.3

Hoping to go to 6,000 launch next time out.

Have we seen picks of your car before?

Jamie,
Nice! Boy that leaves nice and level. Those front tires are probably the exact same height off the ground! No jungle gym in there either,...like mine.

Larry,
Thank you. This was with the torqueflight in it. Like I said, once I put the stick back in it (5 speed testing was my excuse) we had to rework the rear suspension and straighten the frame which I bent... Long story, but it was 11:00 pm when we left the track. I got home and just backed the truck and trailer in the shop and went up the house to bed. I came down the next morning and walked past the car and said to myself, "boy the one front strap really loosened up on the way home last night." The one front side of the car was like 4 inches higher than the other. So I loosened the straps later that morning and the car didn't come back up. So, I started to do some measuring. The passenger side rear frame rail was bent up almost 2". So, I got that straightened, put some real frame ties in and added a halo bar and front bars to the front frame rails at Herb McCandless's last Summer. There is nothing quite like working with a Legendary Drag Racer and listening to how they used to use tubing for the roll bars in the Sox and Martin cars that was so thin walled to save weight, you could almost squeeze it. Herb and his wife Marie are just WONDERFUL people! Herb's good friend Roger is always there help out too. 2 LOOOOONNNNGGGG days later, everything was good and the car is way more solid now. That was done end of year last year. We'll see how it leave this summer. Hopefully nice again. God it was fun to on the track again.
