Im looking to drop some unsprung weight off my barracuda, right now i am running ralleye wheels and bfg tires, its what the car had when it was on the street. Now its going to be race only- MAYBE drive to the track -18 miles-
if i rememeber correctly- 1 lb of unsprung weight is like 8lbs sprung weight....
So i don't want to break the bank, but id love to drop some weight and spruce it up a bit.
weld draglites?
i just dont know what is out there that is decent, ive seen weights on 3.5 draglites about 10-11 lbs that sounds good to me... any suggestions? what about the knock off draglites?
thanks guys.

I'm thinking my Bogart 3.5x15 are right at 7.0 lbs each, the same size Centerline Autodrags are a tiny bit heaveir but you can run the tires tubeless on the Centerlines and Bogarts and the other newer front rims but you can't on the old Cragar Supertricks so Look on here and Racing Junk for some good use front drag rims and tires. I use to help a couple who ran a Hemi GTX in NHRA stock back in the day when we had to run non race rims and tires in stock, once we switch to lightweight race rims and two ply race tires we lost over 80 lbs on the car, probally closer to 100 lbs( I don't remember exactly, sorry)

My Weld drag lites for the back were a $1000 so they are not cheap, not around here anyways.

With the "inexpensive" part, like Cab says, some used Centerlines are probably in your future. Those and the older Welds are common as dirt, which is good for keeping prices down. You can make them unique with anodizing or paint, or run 'em as you get 'em. Check the classifieds here, Ebay, racingjunk, or if there's another Hayward swap meet some might show up there.

What about old school slots? I think they are light and they look cool too.

I have the Summit quick 8- draglite knockoff. The 15x8 weighed 14.5 pounds and was $125 & is made in China.

Sorta related, I know everyone runs tall front runners 27 Dia. & up till they hit 9's or so. But how much does this larger diameter & of course reduced weight effect the ET?

70's Cordoba wheels ar still plentiful. Plenty strong, 15X6 and 13 lbs each - and often under $100 each. Paintem up and they look like any other steel wheel, but light.

I have Weld pro stars for the 65.I also have a set of Greg Weld stars. They are both light. The Greg Welds have more of a cut out.New I believe they were 120 each for the 15x5s and like 160 for the 15x10s.Rocky

I have been looking at the new Weld RT-S wheels for the front of my car. They go well with the 2.0s on the rear and less than half the money.
