Just cracked into my 830 DP. This carb was purchased from a company on EBay as remanufactured. It is a List 4788. Stock specs are square jetted at 80's front and rear, 6.5 power valves front and rear. I found that it was assembled with the rear power valve blocked, but was jetted per stock spec. Should I rejet the secondarys up to about an 88? or should I just install a powervalve?

This is on a street / strip 451, I am most interested in what will go fastest.

Thanks guys-

Generally, I do go 6-8 jets larger when removing a power valve. I would keep a PV in the primary, and block the PV on the secondary. 80-88 is a reasonable place to start in my opinion.

okay, I've installed 89's in the rear with no PV.

I was dissapointed with the performance I saw last year out of my combo. Could this have been a reason? Essentially, I was 8-10 jet sizes lean in the secondary's.

You have to remember the P/V was adding fuel at wide open throttle also so the amount of fuel going into the secondaries might have been close. But you did what I do as I dont run a P/V in my secondaries either and my jetting is about 80's and 86's. I would try what you have now and go from there. Good luck , Ron

Glad you chimed in, Ron. I consider your car the benchmark for my combo, so I was wondering what you run jetting wise. Sounds like we're real close, now.

Just took it for a drive. Butt Dyno says we took a big step in the right direction. (Man, I love the sound of this thing at 6k with the poor street tires screaming for mercy) Gonna be a while before I know if that's true or not (tracks are closed for the season), but I'm really glad I found this issue.

Very good advice! You're on the right track with 80/89! What p/v do you have in the primary block? What is your vacuum reading at idle(in gear)???
