I have an in pan Moroso unit. what amount or degrees should I expect it to raise my oil temp to show. Do you leave it on any extended length of time. Can you burn or hurt the oil in any way. I have a in pan gague but it starts at too high a reading 140 which I never gave a thought to when I bought it, next oil change it will be swapped to a zero start

One I had in the digger Fred I just left on several hours before I raced. I wouldnt leave it on for days at a time LOL I left it on first time to see how hot the oil would get. I betting 4-5 hours easy. This was a Charlies Custom pan BTW. I dont see how it could get hot enough to hurt the oil even if left on untill it burnt out. Im pretty sure they have a fail safe. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I've used one for 10 years. It probably won't get 140 without making a pass or warming it up manually. But I plug mine in a 1/2 hour before running in the pits. It will usually get about 10-15* lower than water temp after making a pass. I'm aluminum rods now. Steel rods make more oil heat on my stuff.
