check first,
Indy has a unique head size/bolt pattern -their valve covers are wider. not the same as std head to the best of my knowledge.
plenty of options for std or cast valve covers out there.

Thats some good info, I didn't know that they wouldn't fit the stock heads. Thanks

it's ok to butt heads, just don't do it with a butthead

I have INDY valve covers on my stock heads. They fit fine. In fact, I have their version that clears the factory shock towers.

So is there different versions of Indy heads/valve covers?

I could be wrong... I just remember somewhere someone saying that the Indy covers were substantially larger... with difficulty clearing parts in some instances.

why some covers don't fit well.
It's the oevrall size not pattern that often causes problems
when checking valve covers you will find two types. those built in the inside edge or outside edge or the gasket. for example KB or Stage v follow the inside. you can tell by the location of the bolt hole being down low on the covers
Some sheet covers like Moroso have followed the outside of the gasket for overall size. Their bolts are high on the cover requiring 4 or 5 inch bolts. These covers are very wide. Some like Williams use recessed bolt holes. Indy covers are a combination. they follow the outside of the gasket but their holes are recessed.

here's a Moroso next to the dark Stage V . you would be surprised to see how much more room the stage v offers

Moroso has no room against the frame. this cover is nearly impossible to remove

same spot using stage v cover. unbelievable amout of room. I used a white towel for contrast to show how much

I would be concerned about the spark plug tubes, do the cover heights very on the different manufacturers covers?

My curiosity kicked in and I had to nose around. All of the ProComp information says "426 Hemi". The ebay ad says "66-71 426 Hemi". The seller looks like they are actually Pro Comp Motorsport.

I would have to agree that they look like they would fit a BAE head. I guess somebody scrounged up a junk head and sent it to China to have a valve cover pattern made. From what I have heard about these people, I can't say that I am surprised. Unfortunately, the OP got stuck. I hope he can get it straightened out.

If the results don't match the theory, change the theory.

Topless,
You can probably sell those on "InsideTopAlcohol" or a ProMod site, most everyone running blown alky (well except for me...lol)are using the BAE fatheads, and although there are several versions now,(-5 through -8) I think they all use the same rocker gear and wider covers like yours. If the guy doesn't make good on the refund, at least you have an option to recover most of the price, there a lot of alky racers that use them. Good Luck......
