I know someone with a original'68 383 car that needs restoration had the wood grain on the lower portion of the dash, console and door panels. I believe it ot be original fwiw first time I've ever seen it ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shruggy.gif)

You all just may be right ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/1343795-scratchchin.gif) I just remember seeing more wood grain in there than any other. I'll have to make a ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/callme.gif) tomorrow to find out. My brain has been known to fade ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/spank.gif) Especially in the 1st round ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif)

My '68 'vert still wears it's original tattered Deluxe interior. It has the simulated burled wood on the door panels and dash. The console has no wood grain on it anywhere. It is finished in what appears to be (was?) a satin aluminum finish, not any metallic present, so I would not call it Argent. There is a black stripe inlayed (about 1/4" wide) that runs down the middle of the console from front to back.

No, the consoles didn't have woodgrain until '69. The door panel and dash woodgrain were options starting with the '67 model year.
