i pulled the heads,and i dont see any gasket failure,so maybe a crack in the head[s]? where do they crack?..i was hoping to see a clean pistion,head chamber,blown gasket type thing,but all 6 look the same.she really smoked after i drove it,and has a miss most of the time...thanks for any ideas. 1997 v6 mitsu in a nice clean body,so i was hoing to repair for the wife....maybe not...thanks,mike

Had an Acclaim that had a bad head gasket. Even tho no real visual evidance, it was bad. Took the head off and took it to a shop. They checked for cracks and resurfaced it. Shop pointed out where it was leaking at. No cracks in the head. That head leaked around #3 piston. Bought a new gasket and head bolts, installed the head with no problems. Car has 165,000 miles on it and still running strong. The shop did tell me on most V-6 engines, a leak usually occurs in the middle of the block, on either side. The head gasket I got was from a site for these Mistsu engines but I cant remember where. The gasket is way better than original.

i was told today aa lot of aluminum heads crack behind the seats,so that might be it. i will have them pressuized to see.if it needs heads,i guess i will part out,sad,its a neat car. thanks,mike
