Like I said,im just kicking the idea around. Sorta like pipe dreamin". Figured the sb would be easier, since A bodies were optioned with them . Thanks for all the perspectives on the subject.
They were optioned with big blocks, too.
not after 69
That's completely irrelevant as the engine bay did not change.
You also don't have to buy expensive headers or any of the other expensive parts. If you don't mind a little fabrication and you're not trying to grab every last bit of horsepower the car can bebuilt rather cheaply.
Outside of the purchase price of the car and body/paint/interior I'll have the 440/727/3.23SG 8-3/4 in my Barracuda convertible for well under $2k, probably under $1k. Yes, the 440 was basically free and I can build the 727 for about $100. I can also build the $20 73-76 k-member into a Direct Connection unit for very little.

Handling isn't hard. It's a myth based on 60s tires.
Well I see a big heap of body roll there and a couple cones knocked over, does look like fun though
Nope, no cones knocked over. Those are the direction cones. And, that was one tight corner. There would have been the same amount of roll with a small block. We also had a lot of grip with the tires.......

you likely won't be using the column shifter stuff with a BB. Might get away with it with a SB.
not with a 727 , the Z bar for the shift linkage is very hard to find
I swapped in a 360/727 in my 71 valiant. I used the column shifter and it works perfect. I had to do alittle bit of fabricating and adjusting. It wasent a big deal.

It's a 3 speed manual car...
Still think the column shift will work?

Actually I knew a guy with a 66 dodge pickup that was a 3 speed on the column 318 truck. He dropped in a 727/383BB and used the 3 speed on the column shifter. He disabled the part that made it slip back in the 1st and reverse side so it just slid up and down on the 2nd and 3rd back side. Ive seen it, believe it or not.
