Was having a debate the other day and this came up. A friend has a 1969 Dodge Charger 500, we have what we are pretty sure is the original radiator (or at least what came out of it 10-15 years ago) and it has provisions for a fan shroud with the 22 inch radiator. What made you get a fan shroud with a 22 inch radiator on a B-Body? AC would have had a 26, same with any kind of axle package or hemi. So, does anybody know the answer to this one?

318 car delivered to a hot climate like arizona or nevada what do you mean by provision? was a shroud on there or are you just talking about the holes on the rad?

It has the side straps with the studs to mount the shroud, that is what I mean by provisions. Just going to a hot climate won't have anything to do with it, something had to trigger you getting a fan shroud. Maybe a small block with AC? Was pretty sure they all got 26 inchers however.
Since the 500's didn't have the nose you didn't have to get a 26 inch rad with a 500. This is a 440/auto of course, any 4 speed or Hemi car would have come with an axle package and a 26.

Every 440 b-body I have ever owner had a 22" with a shroud and fan clutch. My 69 R/T, my GTX, and both my 71's had 22". All my Chargers were 22", shrouds on the fan clutch cars only. None were A/C or Super Track Pack cars, nor had heavy duty cooling. I did have one 70 Charger 500, 383 2 barral A/C car and a 66 383 Coronet A/C with 26" about half the E-bodies I've owned were 26" radiators.

So, to sum up, if you had a 440 engine you had to get a fan shroud no matter what in 69?
