I have up and down end play on my old rear end. Bearings are good. Put axle in other side just to check no end play. I am considering putting shim stock and tightening it up. Will the Green bearings sovle this problem since they bolt to the housing. I never have fooled with them and did not know if they used the retainer to ride on or the bolt flange? Any help would be appreciated. Cliff

If the housing end is screwed up putting in the greens is not going to fix it , you need to have a new housing end welded on .

could try some loc-tight quik metal IIRC

its for filling the slop in a bearing houseing for the race to ride on

I have used it and it work good so far

the green is pressed on the axle and the outer race has an o-ring that might take up you slack

i run them with no inner seals and it seals ok with the o-ring

the correct way would to be weld on a new end

I will look at the loc tight tonight and get some specs on it

like I said it for this very purpose on machines/bearings/shafts and stuff

Had this same issue regards axle ends being galled when fitting the greens , installed the bearings into the housings using silicone sealant with no issues.

I fitted green bearings and had an oil leak from one side of my axle. Took it apart again and the bearing that leaked was loose in the tube, the other one was a snug fit. I made up the difference with a piece of shim stock and it's been leak free for a few years now.
