That's not a sleeper.
took the words out of me mouth. that green nova that was in car craft a couple two-tree years ago was a sleeper! the cage was integrated into the pillars so as to be practically invisible. quiet exhaust. smooth idle. it had drag radials that were just big enough to hook it up (kinda). i think it ran low nines/high eights? had a monster nelson racing engine w/twin turbos, iirc. i had a sleeper in a previous life, no cage, skinny tires. an eleven second car back when that was enough to beat just about everyone. that wouldn't even come close anymore.

...I remember the Nova when it appeared, and thought he should of found a way to "glue" the tires to the rim's to continue the stealth mode. If he could have found a way of a totally hidden traction system too, it would have been a "Super Sleeper"

While not in my area, I remember reading about a smog-era 70’s Vette in one of the magazines a while back that was a real sleeper. It literally looked 100% stock…down to the factory intake, Quadrajet, and emissions air cleaner.
My memory is a little fuzzy, but the car could click off 10 second passes due to a multi-stage fogger system plumbed on the bottom of the intake. It was a white car w/ factory aluminum wheels. Anybody else remember that?
I do. It had the factory(looking) intake that was extrude honed, right?
I tried posting pics of my wagon, but they're too big and I'm an idiot with computers. Then again it's a brand x. So maybe Moparts is rejecting it, lol.

I like that!!!
That is a sleeper. Would be more of a sleeper with narrow tires.
NOW, take that car and morph it with what the FAST guys are doing with stock exhaust manifolds and narrow bias plys.

There was a red duster at the norwalk classics that was running low 10's but you could not hear it run and it had the steel wheels on it with dog dish hub caps. looked like it should have been a show car but it was pretty quick.

I think you're talking about the red Demon. I saw it at Quaker City a few times running 10.40's/50s.
