Can anyone show me where non-SFI padding has resulted in an injury that the SFI padding would have prevented? Just wondering?

I thought the major difference between SFI padding and the cheap stuff is fireproofing..

Correct me if I'm wrong..

the solution is simple, really. if you don't mind all the regulations, and can afford it, just race as fast as you can! if you can't afford it (that would be me), don't! i'll keep pouring money into that black hole in my shop, but it will be a street car (a very fast street car). i'll get a honda civic wagon for bracket racing. i may even tow it with the scamp. hmm.

$17.99 a stick, and one stick should cover what you need. If you have a NHRA number/membership, it's even less. The cheap stuff is $4. If a extra $14 is going to break the bank, it's time to find a new hobby.

So that begs the question.... how do they tell SFI padding from non-SFI? A sticker? An imprint?

Next, I bet they'll require you to get SFI approved flame resistant zip-ties to install it.

It's applied with 2 face tape. Stays put where you put it. The cheap stuff is only thick on one side. It can roll on the tube exposing the thin side. Maybe this is another reason for the SFI stuff?

Don't Laugh!!!! That seems to be the direction they're going.

Let's see now.......Regular Zap-straps only $5.99 per 100. SFI "NHRA Approved" Zap-straps $5.99 each.

Click on the Jegs link above and look at the JAZ padding listed below the Kirkey padding. It has an SFI label all the way down the pad.
