My sons assembling a 408 stroker. He has some KB pistons with a raised portion on them.CR is 9.5 The machine shop installed them on the rods and told him they are correct. They don't look right to me.The raised portion is at the bottom of the pic which would be closest to the lifter valley

The raised area of the piston should be on the top, closest to the lifter valley. Your pic shows them installed correctly.

They are installed correctly but if they are a closed chamber head they need to come back out and get the raised part milled off or get POS open chamber heads.

that's what I was wondering & dont modern bearings not have the groove to feed oil to the rod squirt hole groove as engineers decided that enough oil was being splashed up there as is ?? but I do remem that the large rod chamfer goes toward the outside crank face not inward to the adjacent rod?? EDIT then I read the subsequent post that they clear w the gasket so how much clearance do they have & what actual CR, what heads/what octane?
