This should be an easy one for you A-body 4 speed guys. I'm putting to together a '74 Dart Sport (orig. 225/3 speed stick) with a small block and A833 OD. The bellhousing is from a van 318/OD and the pivot ball on the car doesn't even come close to aligning with the one where it's threaded into the BH. Is this application supposed to have a pivot mount bracket of some sort on the bellhousing? Anyone got a picture? The K-frame is an A-body V8 spool mount type and the trans mount lined right up.
I'll also be hacking the 225 Z-bar to work, anyone want to tell me how?
Any and all responses appreciated.
Cory

Why hack things up? Get the correct parts from:

I prefer to use the huge accumulation of parts I already have, otherwise it would be silly to have them. Building cars via credit card is for sissies.

I thought I had a pic of an actual part but I couldn't find it so here is a service manual picture. I think you can use the /6 bell crank if you shorten it on the bellhousing side.

You are saying you have parts from a /6 and a bell from a van. There probably IS NO correct mount on the bell/ engine end. Here's how I'd go about it:

The upper part of the linkage, that is, going up to the pedal, wants to "see" the original z bar geometry. You should be able to establish this by simply installing the z bar on the original frame mount, and jigging up the engine end. Then see if it's "do a ble" ( I hate that political hack of a word) and build a bracket as needed on the engine/ bell end. I don't even know off hand if the original z bar is the right length--might be too long or too short

Then after getting that jigged, you may have to build/ change/ lengthen/ shorten the last push link back to the fork.

not true.Van/truck/f-body small block bellhousings are the same as as the typical small block bellhousing for a 130 tooth flywheel except for the bigger 5.125 pilot hole....so all the factory bellcrank brackets will work.
