Im in the process of replacing the brake lines for the rear brakes. first, is there a trick to getting the old brake lines unscrewed from the dist block on the rear axel? Second, if not, is there someplace i can buy a new one? Third, can someone post a pic of what the rear drum brakes on a '70 B-body are supposed to look like. Im having issues, how it was done on the car and what it says in the book are two different things, i just want to see what it is supposed to look like on a car, thanks.

use a line wrench on the brake fittings otherwise you'll probably round them off

Soak them with some PB Blaster or something similar. I eventually had to take vise-grips to mine to break them free. I was replacing the lines aways so I didn't mind mangling them.

If you are replacing the lines, simply cut or break off the old line and use a 6 point socket on the fitting, Pb blaster and a propane torch may help..
It works much better than the line wrench if you are going to replace them.

I agree cut the line and use a 6 point socket.I usually used my 3/8 inmact turned way down and they almost always spin right out.The block is part of the rear hose on my 65 it is. I believe and any good parts store can get them.Rocky

Thanks, yeah the cable on the right side, neither side of my rear brakes had that, but the book was showing that it was supposed to have it. The picture in the book wasnt real clear, couldnt exactly tell what was going on.

Napa should have a kit to cover all the little pieces, I'm not sure if the adjuster cable is in there though it might be a separate piece.

The adjuster cable goes to the rear of the car

You would need to buy a self adjuster KIT to get the cables and the rest of the hardware.

there is a RH and a LH kit.

Rock Auto has those parts, and they're actually reasonably priced.
