I need opinions on MOPAR Performance 360 short block
part # P4876908. I am in need input on this shortblock. I am looking for a good street performance engine trying to get 400-450 h.p. with good torque. I found a brand new 360 shortblock that was purchased 4-5 years ago and never opened the crate since the project never developed. Is this short block good for that?
If so, what is a good setup, cam, heads, intake, carb? I am looking for good stuff, not the most expensive.
Also, I am looking for a rear end 8.75 with 3.90s or 4.10s.
Thanks

I have one still in the crate also...P4876908

measure the deck height on the pistons the one i got actually has a positive deck height of .015.

they come with the MP 509 hydraulic cam...which is a big hydraulic cam...

i also have a P4876907..this is the low compression version...it also came with the MP509 cam...I replaced the cam with a smaller cam...and it went into my 73 Duster about a month ago...

it has ran perfect...with a set of 1.88 J heads and eddy peformer rpm intake and eddy carb..

I ran one in my Duster for years. I used some 915 heads with 2.02 intake valves, an RPM Air Gap manifold and a 750 Holley. I had 4.56 gears. I ran 91 octane and it ran fine on the street. I later changed the car a bit and it would run 11.80's at 111 mph. I believe that would equate to about 430 hp.

I pulled it out when I got a stock eliminator engine so I can do NHRA class racing.

I think you will be very happy with it.

I basicly built my LRT's 360 to those spec's. Loads of fun for sure. Just run the bolts with a torque wench, A buddy found loose rod bolts on his Commando long block crate engine.

RPM air gap, RHS heads (talk to hughes or Brian at IMM), standard fel-pro (.054" thick) head gaskets if it has a postive deck height like the other poster found. carb, probably a 750-800cfm...

I'd probably use the RHS magnum heads vs. the LA-X heads to use the cheaper SBC style rockers, and run 1.6 ratio if it has a .509, it'll make it 0.542" lift....

rockers, check out Scorpions...not too pricey, made in the US.
