Just checking to make sure 360 heads from a 73 will bolt on a 67 273 with out problem.Thanks.

This would be so much easier if I knew what I was doing...

They will bolt on no problem. However i don't know if the 1.88 valve will clear the bore without notching. Also use a 360/340 intake so the ports match. THen the last thing to check is if you have dome piston in the 273 i know they clear the 273/318 heads opne or closed but just double check to make sure the Dome clears the head I would assume it woun't be a problem b/c the 360 head has a huge chamner compare to the stock 273/318 stuff

notch the block for sure

best to mock it up with crank/rods/pistons out and look up from the bottom to see/measure clearance of the valve to cyl wall

have to do a bunch of grinding/porting to get the flow straighten out for max HP as the valve is really shrouded at the cyl wall even with notches

IMHO a set of the 318 closed chamberd #302 head would be better when opend up for the 188/160 valves

You will need to clearance the block. The late model 318 heads are the way to go. The 360 head will drop the compression ratio way down.

It will work, may require notching the block for valve clearance or if you valve job on the 360 head is as bad as most you can have the valve diameter turned down slightly to get the clearance. It was mentioned already but the comppression will be TERRIBLE!!!! It will be about 7.2 with the .039 felpro head gasket! And in order to take advantage of the extra airflow you will need to rev it VERY high

The 67 and older 273-318 heads have the smallest chambers and most flow of the small valve heads. I have heard of a couple SS racers now who can not run as fast with the 302 head as the 315 and 920.

I'd use the 920 heads. That's what came on the D/Darts and they ran in the high 12's back then.

Are you sure the D-dart had the 920? I beleive they only came on 67s and were on both the 273 and 318. The 66 should have had a 315 casting, the only differance however was the bolt angle on the intake flange, it was changed to get the intake bolts in easier on the 318 dual plane intake that came on some 318s.
